SHIFAYA is developing a new suite of programmes for international medical students, graduates and residents seeking structured support with postgraduate medical training, research and international career pathways.
We are recruiting for three separate areas:
1. UK Medical Pathways Programme Lead
2. US Medical Pathways Programme Lead
3. Medical Research and Publication Programme Lead
Applicants may apply for one or more areas, but they must have direct and recent experience in each pathway for which they apply. We do not expect one person to cover all three areas.
UK Medical Pathways Programme Lead
This role will help develop and deliver a structured programme for international medical students and graduates considering medical training and practice in the United Kingdom.
Relevant experience may include:
- UK medical licensing and GMC registration pathways.
- Postgraduate training and NHS career routes.
- Examination preparation and study planning.
- Clinical attachments and UK-based experience.
- Portfolio development.
- NHS applications and interviews.
- Supporting international medical graduates entering the UK system.
US Medical Pathways Programme Lead
This role will help develop and deliver a structured programme for international medical students and graduates pursuing medical training in the United States.
Relevant experience may include:
- USMLE examination planning and preparation.
- ECFMG requirements and certification.
- US clinical experience.
- Residency applications and the Match process.
- Personal statements, CVs and interview preparation.
- Research and portfolio development for international medical graduates.
- Helping applicants understand realistic timelines and eligibility requirements.
Medical Research and Publication Programme Lead
This role will help develop a practical research programme for medical students, graduates and residents who need structured guidance through the research process.
Relevant experience may include:
- Developing research questions and protocols.
- Study design and research methodology.
- Ethics applications and responsible research conduct.
- Literature reviews and critical appraisal.
- Data interpretation and statistics.
- Academic writing and manuscript preparation.
- Journal selection and legitimate submission processes.
- Teaching research skills to medical students or doctors.
The programme will provide education, supervision and structured guidance. It will not promise publication, authorship or acceptance by any journal.
Core responsibilities
Depending on the appointed area, responsibilities may include:
- Designing a clear and structured learning pathway.
- Developing learning objectives, session plans, assessments and supporting resources.
- Delivering online teaching, workshops and mentoring sessions.
- Reviewing SHIFAYA content for accuracy and relevance.
- Helping students understand eligibility requirements, timelines and next steps.
- Identifying common challenges faced by international medical students and graduates.
- Contributing to webinars and pilot programmes.
- Helping identify suitable doctors, researchers and educators to join the faculty.
- Collecting participant feedback and improving the programme over time.
- Keeping guidance aligned with current official requirements.
- Working within appropriate professional, educational and ethical boundaries.
Who we are looking for
Applicants may be:
- Medical doctors.
- Senior residents or fellows.
- Academic physicians.
- Medical researchers.
- Medical educators.
- International medical graduates with substantial first-hand pathway experience.
Applicants should have:
- A recognised medical, academic or professional qualification relevant to the role.
- Direct experience of the pathway or programme they wish to lead.
- Teaching, mentoring, research or programme-development experience.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- The ability to explain complex processes clearly and accurately.
- Good professional judgement and an understanding of the limits of educational guidance.
- The ability to work independently within a remote international team.
Arabic or another language would be valuable but is not essential.
Working arrangement
These are paid, fully remote, part-time freelance or consultancy roles.
Remuneration will be agreed according to the responsibilities, programme-development contribution and teaching delivered. Appointments will begin with a defined programme-development and pilot phase, with the possibility of longer-term involvement based on performance and programme demand.
